Youth News week of Dec. 14
Here's what is going on this week 12/14.
Last week:
We had a great discussion on how we can Spend Less & Give More in the this season of Christmas. Many of you shared how they feel more happy, accomplished, and love when they are around friends and family. When we give more we get more then any material gift could give us. The idea of Presence vs. Presents is the key. When we give more of our Presence we are giving the gift that God calls us to give freely.
This Week: We'll begin our 4-week Christmas program: "Re-Thinking Christmas"
This Christmas we aim to reconnect with the true meaning of the season. We return to the symbols (birth, manger, gifts), ideas (humility, sharing, community), and person (Jesus) that is the focus for Christians this time of year.
We follow the ideas presented by AdventConspiracy.org: Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More, and Love All. This Christmas season let us go back to what the foundations of our faith are calling us to do.
Youth Group this week: Week #3: Dr. Suess' "The Grinch"
We'll watch "The Grinch" staring Jim Carey. In this movie the tradition of Christmas has turned totally into gift giving and decorations. While watching the movie we'll notice some of the similarities of Christmas in "Who-ville" and the United States. What is the Grinch really upset about?

Collection of Pop Tops!
-We are collecting pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Our last day to collect them will be at the Christmas Party & Overnighter.
