Here's what is going on this week 1/4.

 Last week:

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! S.C.U.M.-Youth had an amazing Christmas Party & Overnighter with a great dinner, exciting broomball, fun white elephant gift exchange, and games! We also spent last tuesday at Parkway Bowl with the rest of the San Diego District Youth. Props go out to Kaylena, Kayleen, Spencer, and Katie for helping with the worship service you all were great!

This Week: We'll begin our 2-week "New Year Covenant" youth program.

                                                                    New Year’s Covenant

As the New Year arrives we strain ourselves to find something “challenging” enough to be a new year’s resolution. Inevitably our resolution lasts a couple weeks and then it becomes too inconvenient for us to follow any longer and we stop. The resolution usually fails because we have no accountability to anyone but ourselves, there is no community cheering us on or helping us get through the difficult times. This year instead of a resolution we will look to follow a New Year’s Covenant. Covenant is a promise, it is a spiritual commitment, and we have our friends, family, and God cheering us on!

Youth Group this week:                       Week #1: How Our Past Can Help Us Move Forward

Before we move into the New Year we need to take a look back, reflect and then let go. Too often we are paralyzed from progress because we are stuck on the past. This week we will find strength, hope, and grace because it is God who allows us the opportunity to move forward. We cannot be prisoners of our past if we are to move forward in our spiritual journey.
