Youth News Week of June 1st

Here is what's going on this week 6/1.

Last week at Youth Group we had a great discussion on the people or things we follow and how that is in line with what we believe. Part of our program as considering hypocrisy and how Christians are held to a higher standard, although this doesn't permit us to make judgments. The standard we try to hold ourselves to is because we understand that we make mistakes and miss opportunities just as much as anyone else.  We listened to a couple Lenny Kravitz songs and considered times in our lives where we ask ourselves "Did I do enough?" We then focused on our ability to "Live." This week turn the question of "Did I?" to the statement "I Did!"

Parent Information:

We handed out the summer information packet last Wednesday at youth group. Please look it over and fill out the release forms, insurance forms, youth events form, and volunteer form if you can help out this summer. For further information on various events you can check it out on the website or email Cody.

Youth Group this week: Post Easter Christian- "Radical Hospitality"

We'll discuss the idea of hospitality. How we witness it in the world and how we read in the bible instances of "Radical Hospitality." When we have
true faith in God and want to follow Jesus we are called to do some amazing things.  We'll discuss some of the challenges of "radical hospitality" and how we can go out of our way to help people and show them we care for them.

June Ton of Food Drive:

 This month the church is collecting canned food items for the Good Neighbor Center's food pantry. They are in great need this time of year.  Please bring your items to youth group! Here's some items they need:

• Tuna
• Fruit juices: canned, plastic bottles (not frozen)
• Meal-in-a-can items
• Rice
• Pasta sauce & tomato sauce
• Peanut Butter
• Macaroni & Cheese
• Canned items (pork & beans, vegetables, fruit, etc)

Colorado River Trip:

Our annual river trip has been scheduled! The dates are June 25-28. We will begin sign-ups this Wednesday at Youth Group. We have a max of 25 youth who can attend and it is first come first serve. So please be there this Wednesday to reserve your spot!

Camp Registration Forms:

Forms are out! You can register online at calpaccamps.org or get a copy of the registration form from Cody. San Carlos UMC will cover 50% of the cost. Please let Cody know if you are planning on attending.
