Youth News week of August 10th

Here is what's going on this week 8/10.

 Last week we had 14 youth each morning help in leadership for Vacation Bible School. They/You did an amazing job! It was awesome to watch as we sang, played, and taught the children in our community. It was greatly successful because of your service! Thank you!

Youth Group this week:  Marvel #3: Identity & Courage: The Code of a Hero

This week we’ll continue to discover who we are and how we act in the world. You will then consider how your beliefs and actions are similar or different. Then we'll have an opportunity to discuss the power of courage and how we become extraordinary when we are able to be brave and live out our faith in the face situations that may be difficult to do so.

Parkway Bowl Tuesday August 11 (10:00am-12:30pm)

  We'll meet at the church at 10:00am then go to Parkway Bowl. Bring $10.

Day/Night at the Beach: Thursday August 13 (9:00am-10:00pm)

  Don't forget a lunch or money to by lunch. We'll BBQ dinner then enjoy a Bonfire with the other San Diego UMC's!

Upcoming Events:

Graduated Senior Send-Off

  This Wednesday at Youth Group we'll send off our Seniors and show our love and appreciation for them as they prepare to leave on their exciting journey of college. We'll also celebrate Skyler and all the great work he has done this summer as the Youth Intern.

New Website:

On the website you can find a calendar, weekly news, cody's corner updates, information about our group, information about our excellent volunteer team, and a weekly poll.  Once you register you will have access to photos and a discussion board.  The discussion board is a very important tool for youth and parents.  There you will find general information with the summer sign-up form that you can download. A prayer request forum where you can lift up prayer
concerns. For parents you will find all the important forms to download and fill out for your youth to participate in activities, retreats, and events.

Important Summer Information:

To attend events this summer I MUST have the parent consent form and the insurance waiver. NO EXCEPTIONS. Also, youth are required to sign up for events ONE week prior to the event. There is no excuse for them to not be informed about the upcoming events. It is all on the website.

What is the Parable Jesus uses to demonstrate that reward is given to everyone no matter when they start working? This is in relation to last week and the reward of Souplantation to everyone who helped with VBS whether you were there 5 days or 1 day. This will be a HUGE prize for anyone who figures this out!
